Earth Day began in 1970 as a day to focus on our relationship with the wondrous orb that sustains us. It began as a single “environmental teach-in”, designed to make us consider our impact on the earth and how we can lighten the load we place upon it.  Today, Earth Day events and celebrations take place all over the world.

This year you can celebrate our home planet’s big day at the Atlanta Botanical Garden’s Earth Day event. It happens on Sunday, April 22, 2018, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, at the Gardens. This event is free, with admission to the Garden. This verdant facility is one of the top ten botanical gardens in the U.S. There are 30 acres of foliage, artworks and lovely grounds to stroll about.

There will be an arts and crafts workshop and a conservation program. Don’t miss the Children’s Garden Storybook Time. Kids and adults alike will love the Ladybug Releases on the Garden’s Great Lawn.
