With all the specialty cleaning products on the market today, it’s hard to know which ones to keep in you cleaning supplies.  There are drain cleaners and window cleaners, chrome and stainless steel cleaners. There is a cleaning product for just about anything you want to clean and the cost of these products can a put a dent in your budget.  If you want to cut down on the cost and clutter of having numerous cleaning products around your home here at Southern Oaks Apartments, then look no further than your kitchen pantry.  It turns out that vinegar can clean just about anything.

Some of the many uses of vinegar are:

  1. Cleaning window blinds.  Mix equal parts of water and vinegar for the right solution to clean your blinds.
  2. Get rid of that smoke odor.  Place a small, shallow bow of white vinegar in the room where the odor in the strongest.  The odor should be gone in a day.
  3. Shine your silver.  Have your silverware and silver jewelry shining like new by soaking them in a mixture of 1/2 cup white vinegar and 2 tablespoons baking soda for two to three hours.  Rinse under cold water and buff dry with a soft cloth.
  4. Unglue sticky decals, price tags and stickers.  Use full strength white vinegar by saturating the sticker and carefully scraping it off with an expired credit card or phone card.
  5. Get rid of water rings on furniture.  To remove those unsightly water rings from the surface of your furniture, mix equal parts of vinegar and olive oil.  Apply the mixture with a soft cloth while moving with the grain of the wood.  Buff with another clean soft cloth for a beautiful shine.
